Attention Teachers: Book Patz Fowle for your next Artist Residency

Patz Fowle (self-portrait above) is an artist and educator who currently lives just outside of Hartsville, SC.  Fowle is an internationally known ceramics sculptor.  Her award-winning, works of art are at the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, Ca and have been featured in exhibitions in New York City at the New Artists at Madison Square Gardens International Exposition, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Turchin Center at Appalachian State University and the Everson Museum in Syracuse, NY (to name a few).

Fowle's love and devotion to the art world extends beyond the process of creating her own artwork.  She loves to share her talents and techniques with others.  In other words, she has a passion for teaching.

Since 1995, Patz Fowle has been on the South Carolina Arts Commission's Roster of Approved Artists for Residencies in South Carolina's Public Schools.  Over the years, she has done residencies all over South Carolina, throughout the United States and in Japan.  During the 2010-11 school year, Patz was chosen by Black Creek Arts Council of Darlington County and the Darlington County School District to complete a residency in all 23 public schools in Darlington County.

Patz' notoriety comes from her development of The Patz Process Ceramic Technique, a specific and previously undiscovered way of hand-building in clay.  Fowle’s specialized method is recognized by the American Ceramic Society and her work has been published in numerous books on sculpture and ceramics including, Beginning Sculpture (textbook) Handbuilt Ceramics, the Sculpture Reference, Ceramics Monthly Magazine, and on SCETV (among others).
